ABOUT

By Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee • Directed by Kevin Moriarty

WHEN SCIENCE AND FAITH COLLIDE, WHO WINS?

When a public school teacher is arrested for teaching Darwin’s Theory of Evolution to his sophomore students, two powerhouse lawyers face off in a court of law. The nation watches as science and faith collide, bringing a small southern town to its knees. Inspired by the infamous Scopes "Monkey" Trial, DTC’s innovative, contemporary production of this classic American drama is as timely today as it was at the 1955 Dallas world premiere.

Brilliant! Actors, book, staging, everything. I am also loving the Humphreys Theater more, which enhances the production. Also, I want to be one of those people who see the show and then return for another performance. Love it!
Debbie | 06-15-17

Absolutely loved everything about. The story, the gender roles, the staging!! Thank you!
Keith Nix | 06-14-17

Was a bit dubious regarding this adaptation...WRONG to be dubious as it was a innovative, powerful production adhering to the script but taking us to a deep level of creative visual challenge. Such talent gave us empathy to "then" and awareness to "now". I constantly worry about the empty seats and how wisdom from DTC goes wasted with them.
Alex Ramsey | 06-12-17

Enjoyed the show enormously. Was a last-minute decision to see it, and I'm delighted I was able to make it - front and center. (Love those single seats!) Appreciated the innovations, the staging, the musical additions, and the opening perspective. I remember watching - many times - the Tracy film on TV. I used to think isn't it grand we got over that one? But we didn't. It's a constant and continuous battle-just like the issues from the Salem witch trials.
Lynn Whitener | 06-07-17

This was a powerful production of an important, all too contemporary story. The cast was excellent and the staging highlighted the momentum of the action. A memorable experience for me.
Bill Sullivan | 06-05-17

That was just tremendous. An excellent cast at the top of its game, and a fresh and clever take on the material. Liz and Michael were terrific, as always. A thoroughly enjoyable afternoon at the theater!
Myra Rankin | 06-04-17

Excellent Performance! This was an enlightening, thought-provoking, sit-up-in-your-seat-and-give-your-undivided-attention lesson in how much evolves from a thought.
Brenda Smith | 06-04-17

We loved it! Thank you Tony Award winning DTC for always challenging us and inspiring us with great theater. The Stay Late was also very enjoyable. It's so nice to hear from the actors and learn more about the process.
Joel Felberbaum | 05-28-17

Excellent performance by all actors! The ability to portray the characters in a fresh way was great! Subject wise, the story is and will always be relevant. To have faith, but to question is the basis of the human spirit. May it always be a part of us.
Nancy Ferro | 05-25-17

It was amazing, I am always so happy to be able to enjoy every aspect of this theater. Sadly this is every bit as important today as it was then. Thank you, just thank you to the actors and to Kevin for stepping out there for us.
Heidi Murray | 05-22-17

Fantastic performance! Bravo to #DTC for taking on this subject matter which is just as 'new' today as it was then! We need these conversations in our community!
